Golden Week 5 – Numazu

Numazu is another place that I’ve been to and written about before. It’s an amazing place, and a few of my coworkers and their students work there. We made a visit back to the fish market to get some fresh sushi, which was delicious!

We parked near the harbor, which is very industrial, but I really like it for some reason.

These are koi windsocks. They represent boys day, kind of the male equivalent of Hina Matsuri in March.

We stopped off in the fish market to get a delicious sushi lunch. It was just as good as the first time and I think Kathy and Trevor loved it! Trevor had never really eaten sushi before, so he was getting his fill this week.

After that is was off to Baird Brewery, which has a big picture window overlooking the bay. It’s really a beautiful thing.

Delicious Rose.

Me, Keitaro, Trev and Kathy at Baird Brewery.

We finished up some delicious beer and WH came to see us. Keitaro then drove us up to the top of a nearby mountain to climb up to the top and see the city. When we got out of the car we saw this:

And then we hiked up a hill for about 20 minutes and saw this:

and this, and this, and this…
In front of Mt Fuji. covered in clouds.

After we climbed back down, we got in the car and Keitaro booked it back to the station to get us to our train in time. It was an amazing portion of the trip and it wouldn’t have been possible without this guy:

Thanks Keitaro. Come see us in the US someday!
