Golden Week 3 – Heading to Fuji!

We got up nice and early to head to Fuji. From Nagoya it takes about an hour and a half from Nagoya by bullet train.

This is us on the train. It’s really hard to take pictures of yourself with my new ginormous camera. My shoulder got sore right quick…

The train. It’s better than a plane, for serious.

These are rice paddies. You see them all over when you take a trip through the country.

So here’s the deal: I’m not the best planner, especially when it involves other people. But I met someone in Numazu named Keitaro who’s absolutely awesome. He drove up to Fuji, which takes an hour, and picked us up at the station and took us to a festival in Fuji. Yeah, did I mention Japanese people are incredibly nice? Well Keitaro puts all those nice people to shame.

Here’s the temple. We were there during a big festival so there was lots of awesome food around!

Nice art.

After that Keitaro took us to Shiraito Falls, about a twenty minute drive from Fuji and we saw this:

(Yes, I heard that little gasp you let out)

It was so cool, and we wouldn’t have gotten there without Keitaro because there’s no bus. Certainly not one that I would know how to take.

Anyway, we leave off on Shiraito Falls, which I’ll write about in the next post.
