Pisa, Italy

This is my 50th post. I bet you had no idea you’d be wasting this much time online, but I’m glad you’re doing it here:) Here’s the entry on Pisa, one of the most charming but uneventful places I think I’ve ever been:

Don´t be mad Mom, but I slept on the street.

It was late, my flight got in and I asked the tourism lady to point me out a good hostel, but when I got to the ´X´ on the map there was no hostel and a space behind a shed with my name on it.

I was woken up by a garbage man at 5:30 am. I must have fit the part, because by now I have such a wild mop of hair I don´t even need a pillow and showering is more like laundering a carpet. I packed up and wandered off to check out the leaning tower, which is cool, but after standing there for 5 minutes I imagine that half of the people take a look around and mutter, ¨Now what?¨

I walked to the train station, carrying all my stuff, then came back to the tower. By this time the lawn that used to be empty was FULL of people, and it seemed like every third one of them was in the traditional ¨hold up the tower¨ pose. It really was pretty comical and the ridiculous look combined with the lack of sleep and a photographer prevented me from doing one of my own. I heard at least one, ¨Now what?¨ before I turned and left to the train station.

The Duomo

The Cathedral.

The Cathedral.

There it is!

There it is!

It is pretty off-balance isn't it?

EVERYBODY holding up the tower.

Cool mural. If you look close you can see me taking the picture. This was in a construction site. Creative.

Ok, so maybe the leaning tower isn't ALL Pisa has. There's this too.
